Live Bird Feeder Cam

I’ve had a bird feeder in my garden since 2020 and last October I installed some cameras so that I could live stream the live bird feeder cam on my YouTube channel.

The live stream starts at around 8:30am every morning and runs for 12 hours. Most days I will get at least 15 species of bird visiting the garden. House sparrows, goldfinches, starlings, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, blackbirds, collared doves, wood pigeons, magpies, jackdaws, dunnocks, robins, siskins, robins and chaffinches can all be seen on the feeder.

I also setup a Rasberry Pi, which is a tiny credit card size computer, and installed BirdNet Pi. This free software monitors bird calls 24/7 and logs the species it hears. I display the output from BirdNet Pi on the live stream, it’s rather cool when it identifies a bird call and then that species appears in the video.

I wasn’t expecting a huge amount of viewers but most days there are a couple of hundred people from all over the world watching the bird feeder live cam. It’s a nice community of lovely people, as bird watchers often are.

Feel free to subscribe to my Bird Watching UK YouTube channel.
